NationStates is a website offering basic political and economic RP in countries created by the users. It was originally set up as a promotion for the novel Jennifer Government, by Max Barry -- a novel Dexeron has read and approved as keen. However, the site inspired such a strong following, it has now developed into a semi-permanent fixture on the Web, with more than 100,000 regular users.

The world is divided into 'regions' of like-minded fictional states. ClanBOB's, unsurprisingly, is called ClanBOB, the number of countries there fluctuating as BOBs come and go. Because NationStates wasn't originally intended as a serious game, there are a distinctly finite number of issues that can affect states (though this number is slowly increasing), leading to repetition and, for many, boredom. Any state that isn't maintained for a certain period of time gets deleted by the game.

The ClanBOB region spawned a fairly sizeable RP thread for a couple of months in 2005, as a number of the BOBs with countries decided to turn the state run by Jen into a battleground. Peace was eventually restored.
