This was a sad time for ClanBOB.

The First Great Crash

Some time early in 2002, due to server crash and backup error, the ClanBOB server lost all of its data. At the time, the site was hosting webcomics, galleries, user profiles, and other community content. This free hosting was heavily abused by non-community members (since it was a rare free service ahead of its time), and the amount of data grew so large that the backup systems failed. This error in the backup systems went undetected until a server crash occured, all data was lost, and the founders realized there were no backups.

The Great Crash is also referred to as Armageddon.

The Second Great Crash

The former webhost claimed it did not receive payment for a month of service and, somehow, could not get in touch with the leaderBOBs. Instead of waiting for the payment to be received, or checking the ClanBOB website where the leaderBOBs' e-mail addresses were easily accessible, the webhost chose to delete the website instead. In an instant, 10GB of website was deleted, never to be seen again. Coincidently, this crash occured the week of the death of Michael Buonauro.
